From 4th to 13th October 2024
Ramakrishna Math, Madurai, celebrated the auspicious festival of Navaratri from 4th to 13th October 2024 with devotion and grandeur. The 10-day celebration was marked by various spiritual activities and events attended by a large number of devotees.
Highlights of the celebration included:
- Sri Devi Mahatmyam Parayanam (Sri Chandi): Devotees gathered every morning for the daily recitation of the sacred verses.
- Devotional Singing: Monastics led Bhajans and Nama Sankirtanam in both morning and evening sessions, with enthusiastic participation from devotees.
- Lecture Series: From 5th to 9th October, a series of enlightening talks on the Glory of the Divine Mother (Sri Devi Mahatmyam) was held.
- Maha Saptami: Sri Lalita Sahasranama Archana with Vermillion was conducted before evening prayers.
- Maha Ashtami: A special Puja dedicated to Sri Ramakrishna, accompanied by a Homa, was performed. Lunch Prasad was served to around 470 devotees.
- Vijaya Dasami: The sacred ‘Akshara Abhyasam’ ceremony was performed in the Temple, where 50 children were initiated into formal education. After the evening Arati, Shanti-Jal was sprinkled on the devotees, followed by the distribution of Prasad.
Bommai Kolu Display: A traditional display of artistic idols was arranged in the auditorium, where students from the Math’s school narrated the stories behind the exhibits to visitors. Students from other schools in Madurai also visited the Math to participate in the celebrations.
The entire event was filled with devotion and a deep sense of spiritual fulfillment. Devotees left with hearts full of gratitude for the Divine Mother’s blessings.
