Ramakrishna Math, Madurai, observed Maha Sivaratri on February 15, 2026, with a night-long schedule of worship and meditation. The event was attended by over 300 devotees.
Event Highlights
7:00 PM: The celebration began after the evening Arati with the chanting of Vedic Mantras and Sri Rudram.
First Prahara Puja: Following the initial rituals, devotees performed Milk Abhishekam to the Shiva Linga.
10:00 PM – 11:00 PM: Chanting of Thirumurai Parayanam (traditional Tamil hymns).
12:20 AM – 1:00 AM (Lingodbhava Kalam): Devotees participated in Temple Pradakshina and Nama Sankirtanam to mark this auspicious period.
3:50 AM: Commencement of the early morning Homa (sacred fire ritual).
5:00 AM: The program concluded with Mangalarati and Special Arati.
Prasadam was distributed to devotees at the end of the program, with over 230 devotees partaking in the sacred offering, making the celebration a spiritually uplifting experience.
