Ramakrishna Math, Madurai Observes Universal Brotherhood Day

Ramakrishna Math, Madurai, commemorated the 133rd Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s historic participation in the World’s Parliament of Religions at Chicago in 1893 by observing Universal Brotherhood Day on September 11, 2026. Held from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the event witnessed an enthusiastic turnout of 645 students representing six colleges and one school.

Distinguished Addresses and Cultural Presentations

The gathering was addressed by eminent speakers, including Swami Nirmaleshananda, Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission, Tirumukkudal, and Sri V. Mathiazhagan, Retired DEO, Thiruvannamalai.

The commemorative program featured special cultural performances by local students:

Musical Rendition:Students of Rani Lady Meyyammal Achhi Tamil Music College, Madurai, presented Tamil translations of two poems by Swami Vivekananda—"A Benediction" and "Many Happy Returns"—set to their own original musical composition.
Dramatic Performances:Students from the Ashrama’s Sarada Vidyalaya Matriculation School staged two short plays reflecting core inspiring values.

Conclusion

The event concluded with the distribution of a cooked meal to all participants.The celebration drew to a close with a strong sense of unity as everyone joined in singing Vande Mataram and the National Anthem.
