Youth Convention Commemorating the National Youth Day on 7th January

The Ramakrishna Math, Madurai, hosted a grand celebration of National Youth Day on January 7, 2026, to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. The event began at 10:00 a.m. with lamp lighting, Pushpanjali, and Vedic recitation, followed by a welcome address by Swami Nityadipanandaji Maharaj, President of Ramakrishna Math, Madurai.


Highlights of the program included Bharathiyar songs by students of Rani Lady Meyyammai Aachi Tamil Music College, an inspiring speech by Dr. R. Vanniararajan, former principal of Swami Vivekananda College, Thiruvedagam, on “Swami Vivekananda as the embodiment of motherly love and valour,” and a recitation of Swami Vivekananda’s Swadeshi Mantra in Tamil and English. Cultural performances, such as Vijaya Geetham by the students of Sri Sarada Vidyavanam School, and a short drama depicting selected incidents from Swami Vivekananda’s life by our Sarada Vidyalaya students, added vibrancy to the occasion.


As part of the celebrations, essay competitions for school students and speech competitions for college students were conducted earlier. The first prize winner of the speech competition had the honour of presenting her winning speech before the audience, showcasing the depth of thought and eloquence inspired by Swami Vivekananda’s ideals.


The Chief Guest, Swami Vimurtanandaji Maharaj, President of Ramakrishna Math, Thanjavur, delivered a thought-provoking address on “Accumulation of constructive energies – Swami Vivekananda.” The program concluded with a thank-you speech, followed by the National Anthem and Jai slogan.


This year’s celebration witnessed remarkable participation, with 1,310 students from 20 schools and colleges joining the event. Including devotees and staff, around 1,500 attendees partook in the noon prasadam, making the day a memorable tribute to Swami Vivekananda’s vision for youth empowerment.

Arati with Conch Blowing on 12th January

On 12th January 2025, Ramakrishna Math, Madurai, observed Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary with an Arati ceremony at 6:33 am, the exact time of his birth.

Devotees gathered near the adorned statue of Swamiji for the event. The Arati began with conch blowing, followed by Namavalis and Bhajans. Participants also offered floral tributes to Swamiji. Around 30 devotees attended the ceremony.
