Karthikai Deepam is a Hindu festival that falls on the full moon day of the Tamil month of Karthikai (November-December) mainly celebrated by Tamils. It is also known as the festival of lights, as devotees light lamps and candles to worship Lord Siva, who is said to have appeared as an infinite column of fire on this day.

On the 24th of November, 2023, Ramakrishna Math, Madurai celebrated this auspicious occasion with great devotion and joy. The event began with an Arati to Arunachaleshwar, the form of Lord Siva associated with the sacred hill of Arunachala in Tiruvannamalai. A grand Deepam was then lit in the temple prayer hall around 6 pm, symbolizing the presence of the Supreme Light within and without. This was followed by the singing of Namavalis on Lord Siva until 6:30 pm, creating a spiritual ambiance as devotees joined in this melodious tribute.

After the regular Arati to Sri Ramakrishna at 6:30 p.m., there were special bhajans. Around 60 devotees participated in this event and received Prashadam at the end. The event was a memorable one for all who attended, as they felt the grace and blessings of Lord Siva and Sri Ramakrishna.
