Matru Puja at Ramakrishna Math Sarada Vidyalaya - 26-03-2024
Our scriptures tell us, "Matru Devo Bhava, Pitru Devo Bhava" - meaning "Worship your mother as a manifestation of the divine, worship your father as a manifestation of the divine." At Ramakrishna Math Sarada Vidyalaya in Madurai, we take these words to heart. We believe that recognizing the divine in everyone starts with our parents, especially our mothers.
On March 26th, 2024, our 4th and 5th graders participated in a special Matru Puja program. A total of 72 students joined this heartwarming ceremony, guided by the wisdom of Swami Arkaprabhananda.
Swami Arkaprabhananda beautifully explained the importance of motherhood. He shared how honoring our mothers brings blessings from all gods and goddesses, as mothers embody the very essence of love and divinity.
A Ceremony Filled with Love
During the Matru Puja, some students were accompanied by their fathers when their mothers couldn't attend. The students performed rituals to express their love and respect, including washing their parents' feet, applying sandalwood paste, and offering heartfelt prayers. The ceremony concluded with the students bowing their heads in reverence at their parents' feet (Pranams).
A Tradition Rooted in Love and Respect
The Matru Puja program was a big success! It wasn't just about showing gratitude to mothers, it also strengthened the spiritual bond within our school. The program served as a beautiful reminder of the sacrifices mothers make for their children, reminding us to show them love and respect.
Matru Puja at Ramakrishna Math Sarada Vidyalaya celebrates the powerful bond between mothers and children. It's a tradition that teaches us love, compassion, and respect for our parents and elders. It's a cherished event that leaves a lasting impression on all who participate.
