162nd Jayanti of Swami Vivekananda

On Friday, February 2, 2024, Ramakrishna Math Madurai celebrated the 162nd Jayanti (birthday) of Swami Vivekananda. The day commenced with Mangalarati, Vedic chants, and bhajans at 5:00 am. Temple Pradakshina, along with Namavalis and Bhajan singing, took place from 6:30 am to 7:25 am.

A special puja started at 6:30 am, followed by a Homa at 10:15 am. Monastics chanted Sri Rudram from 8:00 am to 8:20 am, followed by Special Bhajans until 10:30 am. Students and teachers carried Swami Vivekananda's portrait in a procession, singing Namavalis, from the school to the temple prayer hall and performed Bhajans at the temple.

Swami Arkaprabhananda delivered a discourse on the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda. At 12:15 pm, a special Arati marked a midday interlude, followed by distributing cooked Prasad to around 600 devotees, symbolizing a gesture of love and spiritual nourishment.

As evening approached, the divine ambiance persisted with special bhajans on Swami Vivekananda, echoing through the premises until 8:00 pm.
