22nd and 26th April 2024

The Chithirai Festival at the Meenakshi Sundareshwarar Temple in Madurai is a celebration that fills the air with spirituality and festivity. As part of our commitment to community service and tradition, we at Ramakrishna Math, Madurai were delighted to participate in this year's festivities by distributing buttermilk to devotees and visitors.

During the Azhagar procession passing through the Reserve Line area (near Madurai Math), we distributed 800 liters of refreshing buttermilk to around 3000 people for two days, 22nd and 26th April 2024, in front of our Math premises.

Madurai's Chithrai Festival is renowned for its grandeur and religious fervour. The festival, which celebrates the divine wedding of Goddess Meenakshi to Lord Sundareswarar, attracts devotees from far and wide. The Azhagar procession to the Vaigai river is one of the most significant events of the festival. As devotees come together to witness this sacred procession, we felt privileged to contribute to their experience by providing them with buttermilk.
